247 MUSIC TREND INTERVIEW SESSION WITH ELIXIR BY TEEJAY
247 MUSIC TREND INTERVIEW SESSION WITH ELIXIR BY TEEJAY
TEEJAY: What drew you to the music industry?
ELIXIR: my drive to the music industry had always been my love for the art,and also several push from my cousin deejay Deekay, who always told me I could make a great rapper, because of how I dig into rap lyrics.
TEEJAY: Who are you inspired by?
ELIXIR: I’m inspired by the likes of Jcole, Mi Abaga, Ladipoe, Davido, and I love Ycee too
TEEJAY: Please explain your creative process, your style of music
ELIXIR: My style of music is built on a fusion of rap and afro beat, every time I make music I try to fuse in the foreign type vibe into afro beats, for relativity,
TEEJAY: Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
ELIXIR: Lol yes, No love was actually from my heart, at a point in my life I was close to some people and we was riding together, until they got close to other people to the point they started saying hi like we was strangers, so at that point I realized that anybody who is riding with you at the moment is sticking around cos of something, when that thing is gone, you will realized that only Jesus shows unconditional love, everyone else, nope
TEEJAY: Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?
ELIXIR: Yes, I have collaborated with two people at the moment, Recio and Deejay Deekay, the process is actually fun,, deejay Deekay especially cos when you work with Deekay regardless of how strong your bar is….if he doesn’t feel it, you got to write again, and it’s fun because Deekay has a vibe on his own.so he helps a lot in creating the art
TEEJAY: Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans
ELIXIR: Hmmm well about fans, well the few that ride with me, I ride with them too, regardless of whatever, I treat fans as friends and family too, cos sometimes they show too much love that I naturally don’t think I deserve, so in as much as they know I play a lot, I don’t play with the love they show.
TEEJAY: What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?
ELIXIR: My favorite part about music is the fact that it puts me out there I mean cos naturally I’m shy in person and there is no way I could have connected with so many people apart from music, my least favorite part of the art has always been the grind, I mean as an upcoming you give more than you get and that is stressful.
TEEJAY: Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?
ELIXIR: Yes I have, I still battle performance anxiety till date.
TEEJAY: Tell me about your favorite performance venues
ELIXIR: My favorite performance venue so far is my school, the love I get there is amazing.
TEEJAY: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
ELIXIR: wow, in the next 5 years I see myself close to the top, if not at the top… I mean there is so much we plan on doing and we can’t just do the most and still be out here
TEEJAY: Are you signed to any record label, if no, what are some of the challenges you face as an independent artist?
ELIXIR: Yes, “House of Melody”, shout out Mr M, shout out Deejay Deekay.
TEEJAY: What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
ELIXIR: wow, well I will say, creativity sets you apart from the crowd, music is not just all fun as we think well maybe listening to it is, but making music is not, just like school you got to study the gigs, most times I listen to a lot of artists, I learn a lot from them, so for you to be a professional, you got to study the profession, and most importantly love God, he has all the vibe you are looking for
